The hospital has worked on introducing newer and latest techniques in various fields of Total knee replacement, Complex Ortho surgeries, Hip replacement, redo joint replacements , joint repairs, spinal surgeries like Balloon Kypholplasty, Artificial Disc Replacement, Deformity Correction surgery, Trauma and injured limbs, replantation of complete amputed parts, Cosmetic surgeries, cardio thoracic surgeries, arthroscopy, dental, neuromedicine, neurosurgeries, oncosurgeries and onco medicine . Apart from being one of the largest clinical unit known for Joint replacement surgeries, Shalby is also well-known for its academic activities.

Shalby Hospitals has also achieved the proud distinction of becoming the first institution in Gujarat who have been granted accreditation as a centre for training in DNB Diplomate of National Board) Orthopaedics. Now, Shalby Hospitals will train doctors to become Orthopaedic Surgeons.

The anaesthesia and pain management department has a team of 11 consultants, who work round the clock. All consultants are experienced in pain management.

Course Participants & Period:
3-5 candidates per batch for 6 days

Curriculum:
The 6 days long course would mainly focus on the blocks given for surgical procedures extended to acute and chronic pain management including interventional pain management. Herein the attending doctor would be closely observing all the techniques in the OT. For theoretical references, there is a library within the hospital premises which can be used. The doctor would be given an opportunity to perform the technique once or twice, which would depend on the patient profile with the guide discretion.

Course Fees:
Rs. 10,000/- (service tax extra as applicable)
The fee is for the course alone and does not include the cost of lodging and boarding. Accommodation will be provided by the hospital by prior confirmation. Accommodation Charges will be extra, not included in course fees.

Eligibility :
Participant must be a medical graduate (MBBS) from any recognized university approved by MCI. Participant must have completed one year residency from a recognized Hospital in the following disciplines: Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurosurgery, and General Medicine. Desirable: Post-graduate degree/diploma in Anesthesiology or above disciplines.

Instructions to the Trainees:
1. Participants are instructed to come with the primary knowledge of surface anatomy of peripheral nerves and plexus.
2. The minimum number of hours in the hospital is 10 hrs. (8 AM to 6 PM)
3. The course manual provided by Aesculap Academy will serve as a good guide and hence the trainees are urged to have the book with them all the time.
4. The hands-on- training will be done only in the presence of a course faculty and only after obtaining consent from the patient.
5. The participant can interact with the faculty throughout the course days and get their doubts cleared

Continuous Perineural Catheterization

Combined Spinal Epidural Anaesthesia

Fibromyalgia with Myofascial Pain Syndrome (Interventions that will be discussed / demonstrated):
1. Stellate ganglion block
2. Lumber sympathetic block
3. Trigger Point injections
4. Gasserian ganglion with branches of Trigeminal Nerve Block
5. Sphenopalatine ganglion block
